India’s squad for the World Cup 2019 will be named on or before April 20, team India’s chief selector MSK Prasad told ANI. It is to be noted that the teams have to name their squad for the tournament before April 23 and they can make changes to it by April 30th.

“We will be announcing our team for the World Cup on or before April 20,” Prasad told ANI.

“I am confident that we are going to announce a good team. We have worked on this for almost one and a half years. We have observed all the players, tested good combinations,” he added.

The national selection panel has inked on 13 players for the tournament, Prasad had said recently and there are only two spots that are to be filled.

Despite Ambati Rayudu being tested at number four on occasions, he is yet to ink on the spot and the spot is still open.

He hasn’t even performed well in IPL, that further keeps the race open for number 4.

In three IPL matches that he has played so far, Rayudu has just scored 34 runs.

The second slot that is open is that of the fourth seamer.

India have the pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami.

They still need a fourth pacer and there are many players who have been tested in the past one year

Despite having Hardik Pandya in the line-up, India will need the fourth seamer at the Worl Cup.

The place for the third spinner is also one to look out for but it is unlikely that India will have a third spinner in the World Cup.

Ravindra Jadeja has been the part of the team since Asia Cup 2018, still, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are only two spinners who are expected to be part of Men in Blue.

Vijay Shankar, with his performances with the bat at international level, has fixed his place and looks set to be team India’s second pace bowling all-rounder.

As Indian skipper Virat Kohli had said last month, IPL performances will not have an impact on World Cup selection.

It clear means that India will not be tinkering much with the squad for the tournament and it will likely be almost the same squad that played against Australia in the home series.
