Australia all-rounder Mithcell Marsh is all set to miss the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan due to a fracture. Marsh, who was dismissed on 53 in a Sheffield Shield match, was upset with his dismissal and punched the wall which resulted in him suffering the fracture.

Aa the outset, it seemed like he might just miss one Test but now, it has been confirmed that he will be unavailable for both the matches.

Marsh was able to make it to the Test side for Ashes and announced a superlative comeback but he is all set to lose his Test spot.

In his absence, Australia also have the challenge to get a player his stature. The hosts will miss the services of a player who can perform the dual role. Marsh is expected to be fit or the New Zeland series, which also includes Boxing Day Test.

Steven Smith, RIcky Ponting

Tim Paine will continue to lead Australia as Steven Smith is yet to complete his ban-period, which will end in March 2020. Despite being in poor form in Ashes, David Warner looks set to be retained. Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft, the two openers in Ashes 2019, are expected to be dropped for Joe Burns.

For Pakistan, Sarfaraz Ahmed will be retained as captain, despite him being criticised for recent performances.

A call on his future as captain might be taken depending on the results of Australia series. It will be the first overseas series for Misbah-ul-haq in the role of team’s head coach and chief selector.
