The Indian team got off to a flying start against Australia at The Oval. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan hit their respective fifties in no time. The likes of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins proved to be ineffective as the duo kept on finding the gaps. India posted 127 runs for the first wicket.

Sunday witnesses a cracker of a contest
Sharma carried on the good run from the last game against South Africa. In India’s opening encounter, the deputy hit an unbeaten hundred to earn two vital points. He looked set for another biggie but his innings was brought to a halt by Coulter-Nile. He departed for 57 off 70 balls, courtesy three fours and a six. The batter completed 2000 runs against Australia. He became the fastest batsman to get to the landmark against a particular side. Rohit is also the 4th batsman to reach the feat against the defending champions.

Rohit-Dhawan gets India to a perfect start
Rohit has walked the talked. Ahead of the big game, he had said that whichever side plays better cricket on the given day will emerge as winners. He didn’t read much on the past results.
England, India and Australia are the three strong contenders for the World Cup. And hence the ongoing game is a vital clash for both the sides. The wicket looks more like a belter and there was hardly any movement. India will look to post anything above 320, considering the start they have got. Skipper Virat Kohli and the middle order batters will look to capitalize on the start. On the other hand, Aaron Finch would love to bag a few quick wickets to get the momentum back on Australia’s side.
Let’s take a look at how the internet reacted to India’s solid opening stand:
