The Delhi Daredevils franchise arrived in Kolkata for their away match against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

It is really an awkward situation for Gambhir to be coming back to Kolkata. The southpaw led the Kolkata Knight Riders from 2011-2017 and under his leadership, the franchise had won two titles.

He was an inspirational leader for Kolkata and always lead from the front. He was a consistent performer at the top of the order. It was pretty strange to see that such a successful captain like Gambir not being retained by Kolkata during the auctions this year.

Meanwhile, he has returned to his hometown and the franchise for whom he started playing the league.

However, in the last seven years, things have changed for Gambirand he has become a Kolkata boy. The fans will be cheering Gambhir but will be backing the Kolkata Knight Riders to emerge victorious in their 4th encounter.

Both teams have a win and a couple of losses each so it will be a mouth-watering contest in our hands.

Taking to his twitter handle, Gambhir shared a video where the Delhi Daredevils franchise is seen landing at the Kolkata Airport. He captioned the video,

‘The air smells familiar, faces look friendly, from ‘Gauti paaji’ all of a sudden I’ve become ‘Gautam Da’…..am I at my erstwhile home?’

It will be an emotional moment for both the teams. Pride will be at stake when the two takes the field today evening.

Kolkata already pegged by injuries

We are just a couple of hours away from the start of the game. Kolkata has struggled with injuries.

After Mitchell Starc was ruled out at the start of the tournament, Young speedster Kamlesh Nagarkoti has also fallen prey to injury.

After a brilliant start against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, KKR has lost two on a bounce. Their batsmen have been overly reliant on certain players who won’t take them forward.

Daredevils, on the other hand, will look to add impetus to their victory in the previous encounter. They defeated the Mumbai Indians in the last match courtesy sublime innings from the opener, Jason Roy.
