Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has continued their winning run going in this tournament, as they beat Delhi Daredevils (DD) by seven wickets in Hyderabad.
As a result, the Sunrises extended their lead at the top and is one step closer to qualifying for the playoffs.
Batting first, Delhi banked on Prithvi Shaw (65) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (44) to post 163 on the board. While Shaw continued his good run, Iyer has been stunning since taking on the responsibility.
Moreover, some late blows from Daniel Christian ensured Delhi go past the 150-run mark. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan was once again brilliant bagging two for 23 in his four.
In reply, however, Hyderabad got off to a brilliant start, courtesy Alex Hales and Shikhar Dhawan. They both added 76 runs for the first wicket to set the platform for the middle-order.
Skipper Kane Willaimson (32*) and Yusuf Pathan (27*) took their team home easily with one ball to spare.
Here is the players rating:
Alex Hales: (7.5/10)
Hales’ inclusion in the team has started to pay dividends early. The swashbuckling England opener has provided SRH with blistering starts. He scored a quickfire 45 runs to set the tone for the run chase.
Shikhar Dhawan: (7/10)
Dhawan has finally shown some hint of form after returning from injury. The southpaw contributed with 33 runs to provide a solid start in the run chase. Meanwhile, his return to form will boost the Hyderabad camp.
Kane Williamson (c): (8/10)
Williamson has led the side right from the front. Be it scoring runs with the bat or with his bowling changes, Williamson has been spot on. He once again continued his prime form chipping in with 32 runs playing the secondary role to Pathan.
Manish Pandey: (6.5/10)
Pandey’s inability to finish games will haunt him later in his career. He has made it a habit of giving away wickets after settling in. He departed scoring 21 runs off 17 deliveries leaving SRH in a spot of bother.
Shakib Al Hasan: (5/10)
Shakib Al Hasan went for plenty. However, he has shown good form in the previous games. He needs to shine with both bat and ball, as the league nears its business end. Shakib returned with none for 34 in his four overs.
Yusuf Pathan: (9/10)
Pathan has started to hit back his prime form which will be a huge bonus for Hyderabad going into the tournament. Pathan remained unbeaten on 27 runs from 12 deliveries, as he saw his team home.
Wriddhiman Saha (wk): (2/10)
Saha had no role to play with the bat. However, he needs to put some runs under his belt whenever he gets an opportunity. However, he was brilliant behind the stumps.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar: (5/10)
Bhuvneshwar Kumar‘s return from injury will not be a sweet memory, as he gave away plenty of runs. Kumar replaced Basil Thampi in the playing XI but failed to create an impact. He returned with none for 33 in his full quota.
Rashid Khan: (8.5/10)
The leg-spinner from Afghanistan is having a remarkable stint in India. He has led the bowling unit, as Hyderabad have mastered the art of defending targets. Khan returned with two for 23 in his four overs, as Hyderabad restricted the visitors for a modest total.
Siddarth Kaul: (5.5/10)
Siddarth Kaul had a below-par outing compared to the performances he has shown this year. He returned with one for 37 in his four overs, as Delhi crossed the 150-run mark. Kaul will look to hit the right chords in the next game.
Sandeep Sharma: (5/10)
Sandeep Sharma had an off-day with the ball against Delhi Daredevils. However, it didn’t stop his team from continuing the winning run. He returned with none for 35 in his four overs. Sandeep will look to put an improved performance in the next game.
