What a fantastic night it was for Chennai Super Kings in the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League 2019? They outclassed Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowling to restrict them for a cheap score on the board. The collective bowling effort from the Chennai that was lead by Deepak Chahar saw CSK being restricted to 108.
It was a horrible night for the Kolkata Knight Riders’ batsman. Perhaps, they wouldn’t have expected such a collapse from the top-order, as the conditions weren’t that tough.
Initially, it was Chennai Super Kings, who won the toss, elected to bowl first. Things never looked easy for Kolkata Knight Riders in the middle. Right in the first over, Deepak Chahar sent back Chris Lynn for a duck.

It was followed by the wicket of Sunil Narine when Harbhajan Singh used all his experience to bowl a wide length delivery to him. Nitish Rana, who was the in-form batsman for the team also walked back for a duck when he smashed Deepak to Ambati Rayudu.
Later, it was Imran Tahir’s show, who dismissed Shubman Gill and Dinesh Karthik break the bone of Kolkata Knight Riders, Once again, the onus was on Andre Russell, who got good support from Piyush Chawla.

For Chennai Super Kings, Deepak Chahar bagged a couple of wickets while Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh and the rest of the bowlers used the conditions to the perfection.
In the end, all they managed was 108 on the board with some late blitz from the super striker of the ball. It would be interesting to see how Dinesh Karthik manages his spinners on such a track.
Twitter Reactions:
So Dhoni chooses to chase. Says dew is the reason. It is a pity that for all the preparation, the analytics, the match-ups, the biggest factor in a game is something players have no control over.

What a dream start Chennai has had against KKR. Four wickets down for 24 with Chahar having three to his name. I hope he gets into consideration for the World Cup.#CSKvKKR

Harbhajan drops a skier from Russell, is down on the ground in agony, Tahir charges across to lift him up. The little things that tell you about a team.
