Indian National Cricket team fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been at his pick in Test and ODI formats in the last 12 months. He made an outstanding comeback after a bitter, and a much publicised, marital spat with wife Hasin Jahan. However, Shami doesn’t want to relive on his past and admitted that his goal is to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) for his franchise.

Meanwhile, the Bengal pacer changed his base from Delhi to Punjab ahead of this season. Although he wants to concentrate only on cricket, controversies off the field have no intentions to leave him. Recently, the Kolkata Police have booked him under non-bailable offences. Speaking for the first time since that incident to Aaj Tak, Mohammed Shami admitted that he is ready to take on the outcome head on. However, currently, he is not thinking about anything except for cricket.

“I hope everything remains fine. Whatever is the outcome, I am ready to face it. Cricket life mein hai to sab kuch hai (cricket remains everything in life). That is the only thing I am bothered about. I don’t care about the allegations or what will happen eventually. Right now, I am not thinking even zero percent about it. I won’t let it affect me,” Shami said.

Want to Win IPL and World Cup

Amidst the growing controversy, Mohammed Shami has set his priorities right. The fast bowler pointed out that he wants to win the ongoing IPL with the Kings XI Punjab. Also, Shami mentioned that he has his eyes set on the upcoming ICC World Cup in England and Wales starting from May 30. Meanwhile, India will begin their campaign on June 5 against South Africa.

“My target is to win the IPL for Kings XI Punjab and then the World Cup for the country,” he added.

In the chargesheet submitted by Kolkata Police, Mohammed Shami has been charged under sections 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment). Shami stressed that he has reached this stage with a lot of hard work and doesn’t want to give it easily. During the period, Shami admitted that he only thought about cricket and set aside everything. He also revealed how he decided to resume cricket in the middle of the controversy.

“I have reached this stage after a lot of hard work. The stress that I have gone through, the pressure that I have faced in the last 18 months is unexplainable. In the midst of all this controversy, while sitting with my family one day, I thought that the world knows me because of cricket so everything else should be kept aside. I told myself that come what may, I should resume playing cricket,” Mohammed Shami concluded.
