To help the Royals launch pink and build their international fan base, Shane Warne will make several trips to India.
Under his captaincy, Rajasthan Royals won their only IPL trophy and that too in the inaugural edition of the tournament (2008). The legendary leg-spinner led the side from 2008 to 2011 and then he took retirement from the game.
During his playing years for the franchise, Shane Warne also played the coaching role. In the last year, he returned to the side as a mentor. Also, Shane is delighted with his new role.
He said, “I’m very happy to be back with the Royals, and I’m grateful to the team and the fans for their constant support. It was important for us to retain our established values but at the same time develop a new and modern identity. I am already in love with the new look of the team and hope the fans will love it too.”
In the past, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings faced the two-year suspension from the IPL tournament, due to their involvement in corruption and match-fixing scandal. After completing their suspension period, they returned to the competition in the previous year.
