Want to be a professional cricketer?
Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has revealed why it is difficult to pick him up. In fact, we have seen in the history of the game, that the spinners who bowl slowly through the air tend to achieve more success than the ones who bowl fast through the air. The slower the ball, the more chance the ball will have to grip the surface and thus turn. However, Rashid Khan has to be one of the exceptions as he generally bowls around 100 Kmph.
Subsequently, Rashid Khan has achieved great success even after bowling at a high speed. The leg-spinner has revealed that his quick action makes it difficult for the batsmen to pick him.
Rashid Khan has breathed down the neck of the best in the business.
Consequently, the batter has less time to pick the ball from the hand. Once the ball leaves Rashid’s hand, the batsman doesn’t have a lot of time to adjust to the line and length. In fact, the 20-year old has the most deadly goggly in his armoury, which makes the batters vulnerable.
“That’s how cricket is. Everyone will start studying you, start watching your videos again and again and they’ll have something different in their mind. Right now I am focusing on the right things I’ve done in the past. I have been working in the nets different legspinners, and every grip is giving me different results,” he tells Cricbuzz.
“Even the wrong one, when I am holding it with a different grip, it gives me different results. Some bounce more or some just turn a lot. I am just trying to take advantage of my speed and my quick arm action.
Meanwhile, Rashid Khan has also added that he is working on a plethora of variations in the Test format. So, the worldwide batsmen, Please Watch out! Khan has thus far played only two Test matches.
“Since now we have Test cricket, I need to improve those skills as well. I am working on 5 or 6 different legspinners. I don’t have full control over it just yet. I can bowl them well in the nets but can’t in the match. My action is really quick and it’s tough for the batsmen to pick me. Even if you pick the action, you have to hit the ball.
Meanwhile, Rashid Khan has done a great job in the shortest format of the game. Khan has ticked the right boxes in the T20 format and he is successful in bamboozling the best batsmen in the game.
In fact, the linchpin spinner said he loves playing in the 50-overs version as he has more time to set up the batsmen.
“I love T20s but I enjoy playing ODIs more. You have more time and you can think your game. We have enough time to manage the batsmen.”
Rashid Khan has done a great job in his young career and he would like to keep going strong at the topmost level.
Meanwhile, Rashid Khan has scalped only two matches in the three matches of the IPL season thus far. The leg-spinner will like to be at his best in the coming matches for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
