IPL 2020: SRH Captain David Warner Is Confident With Present Bowling Team

In the ongoing lockdown period, the Australian star opener David Warner, the present Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain, recently talked with his SRH teammate Jonny Bairstow in an Instagram live session. The IPL 2016-winning captain is very confident about his present team as he feels great with the present depth in the SRH bowling.
While David Warner is serving for the IPL side SRH since 2014, English wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow joined the side in the last season. Warner, who successfully led the SRH team to win the IPL 2016, missed out the entire 2018 season due to the Cricket Australia’s (CA) suspension for involving in the ball-tampering incident during the 2018 Cape Town Test. However, in the last year, Warner and Bairstow played very important roles for the SRH to finish in the fourth position.
Last year’s orange cap holder Warner has been appointed again for the captaincy role of SRH for the IPL 2020, which has been postponed until further notice due to the coronavirus outbreak. The SRH skipper has been impressed with the present depths in the bowling side.
Warner said, “We’ve got a very good squad. One of the best things about our squad is we have great depths in our bowling.
“We have got got good upfront swing bowling and our death bowling is probably the best in the competition.”
The SRH hugely invested in the all-rounders during the 2020 IPL auction. Though they are missing Bangladesh star Shakib Al Hasan due to the ongoing ban, which forced them to release him ahead of the auction, they have bought Aussie all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and Caribbean all-rounder Fabian Allen for the IPL 2020 along with some good talented domestic all-rounders and batsmen.
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow enjoy running between the wicket with each other
Meanwhile, both Warner and Bairstow like the running between the wickets during batting with each other. In the last season, while Warner finished as the leading run-scorer with 692 runs (average 69.20), the tenth most run-scorer of the tournament Bairstow was the second most run-scorer for his team with 445 runs (average 55.62).
Warner said, “I love running between wickets and I think our energy running between the wickets is outstanding. I know how fast your ability and game awareness is. It’s one of my favourite things to do and a strong point for us.”
In the last IPL season, they put century partnerships for four times, including the record opening partnership in IPL history (185 against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Hyderabad, Deccan on 31st March 2019).
Agreeing his present SRH captain, Bairstow added, “Yes definitely there is an understanding between us. We can both gauge if it’s 2 runs we don’t have to look, it’s just touch and go. And that started really early on, we were getting twos when we had no right to get them. You put pressure on opposition like that and then it eases off pressure on us.”
