ToggleIn the 12th match of the IPL 2020, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 37 runs at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai).
Rajasthan Royals captain Steven Smith decided to field first after winning the toss. Kolkata Knight Riders scored 174/6 (20 overs) at the end of the first innings. Chasing down that target, RR only managed to score 137/9 (20 overs).

Though Rajasthan Royals openers Jos Buttler and Steven Smith collected 12 runs in the first over (including two leg byes), disciplined KKR bowlers took the control of the game from the next over as Rajasthan Royals were losing their wickets at regular intervals. Apart from Buttler, all other four batsmen among the top five batsmen failed to reach the double-digit scores. Before Shivam Mavi dismissed Buttler, the English wicket-keeper batsman scored 21 runs off 16 balls.
Their last match hero Rahul Tewatia was bowled by Varun Chakravarthy for 14 runs. At the late moment, only Tom Curran batted excitingly that helped them to easily cross the 100 runs mark. At the end of the 19th over, Curran completed his fifty in 35 balls. He remained not out on 54 runs off 36 balls (2 fours and 3 sixes).
Three KKR bowlers took two wickets each in that innings and these bowlers were Shivam Mavi (2/20), Kamlesh Nagarkoti (2/13) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/25).

Openers Shubman Gill and Sunil Narine provided 36 runs partnership for the first wicket before Jaydev Unadkat bowled Narine (15). For the second wicket, Nitish Rana and Gill put 46 runs partnership. Rahul Tewatia broke that partnership by dismissing Rana for 22 runs.
Soon, Gill also lost his wicket on 47 runs off 34 balls (5 fours and only six). Jofra Archer dismissed the Indian youngster through the caught and bowled dismissal.
While captain Dinesh Karthik was dismissed by Archer for just 1 run, Andre Russell lost his wicket to Ankit Rajpoot after scoring 24 runs off 14 balls (3 sixes).
In that late moment of that innings, Eoin Morgan played a very significant role that massively helped the KKR to manage a challenging first innings total. Morgan remained not out on 34 runs off 23 balls (only four and 2 sixes).
Among the Rajasthan Royals bowlers, only Jofra Archer managed to pick up more than one wicket as the disciplined bowler had the incredible bowling figures of 4-0-18-2.
