IPL 2020, Match 13: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) – Toss Report 1

In the 13th match of the IPL 2020, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are facing the reigning champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi).

It is the fourth match for both these teams in the IPL 2020. Out of their first three matches, both teams have won one each and suffered two defeats each, including one Super Over defeat. While KL Rahul-led Kings XI Punjab are currently in the fifth position, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians are presently in the sixth position in the IPL 2020 points table.

After losing against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Super Over, KXIP claimed a dominant 97-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In their third match of this season, KXIP lost against Rajasthan Royals (RR) by four wickets.

On the other hand, defending champions Mumbai Indians started this tournament with a 5-wicket defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). While they beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 49 runs in their next match, they then suffered a Super Over defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Last time, KXIP met against Mumbai Indians at Mumbai on 10th April 2019, where the hosts won by three wickets on the final ball of the match.

Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to field first. KXIP have made only one alteration in the playing XI as Krishnappa Gowtham replaced Murugan Ashwin.

Rahul said after winning the toss, “We’re going to bowl first. It is a new strip, looks really good and should play well for 40 overs. Hopefully there is a bit of movement first up. Gowtham comes in place of M Ashwin, that’s the only change.”

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma confirmed that they have made no changes in their playing XI.

Rohit Sharma said, “We would have batted first. We played good cricket here batting first in the last game, so we just need to put up a good performance. The talk before the tournament for us was to focus on the basics of batting, bowling and fielding and our preparations were good. We back outselves to do whatever is thrown at us. We are playing the same team.”
