ToggleOn Sunday (20th September) evening, we experienced a thrilling match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai). This second game of the IPL 2020 had the tied result but Delhi Capitals finally beat KXIP in the Super Over.
After winning the toss, the new KXIP captain KL Rahul decided to field first. Both Delhi Capitals and KXIP scored 157/8 (20 overs). In the Super Over, while KXIP scored 2/2 (3 balls), Delhi franchise successfully chased down that tiny target (3/0 in 2 balls).

i) Delhi Capitals won in the Super Over.
- It was the third Super Over experience for Delhi Capitals. While they suffered a defeat in their first IPL Super Over against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2013, they beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2019 and most recently KXIP.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP)
i) Kings XI Punjab suffered a defeat in the Super Over.
- It was also the third Super Over experience for KXIP but it was their first Super Over defeat. Their first two Super Over experiences were against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2010 and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2015, where KXIP won both those Super Overs.
- Since 2017, it was the first time when KXIP suffered a defeat in their opening match in an IPL season. Before this defeat, they achieved three successive victories in this status (2017, 2018 and 2019).
ii) KXIP scored only 2 runs in the Super Over.
- It was the lowest Super Over total for a team in IPL history. The previous lowest record was six runs for twice (Rajasthan Royals against KXIP at Ahmedabad in 2015 and Gujarat Lions against Mumbai Indians at Rajkot in 2017).
