ToggleIn the seventh match of the IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals (DC) claimed their second victory in this tournament after beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 44 runs at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai).
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to field first. At the end of the first innings, Delhi Capitals managed to score 175/3 (20 overs). In reply, CSK only managed to score 131/7 (20 overs).
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) innings
Chennai Super Kings openers Murali Vijay and Shane Watson again failed to provide a good start as Vijay was dismissed for 10 runs after Watson lost his wicket on 14 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad was run out on 5 runs. While CSK scored 34/2 at the end of the mandatory powerplay, their after powerplay period wasn’t so remarkable due to lack of speedy runs. The Delhi Capitals bowlers were very disciplined in that entire innings.
Faf du Plessis and Kedar Jadhav managed to provide a 50+ partnership for the fourth wicket but they couldn’t accelerate their innings. After the 54 runs partnership for that fourth wicket, when Jadhav was dismissed for 26 runs, CSK were battling on 98/4 in 15.4 overs.
Faf then lost his wicket after scoring 43 runs off 35 balls (4 fours). In the final over of the match, captain MS Dhoni was dismissed for 15 runs.
Among Delhi Capitals bowlers, Kagiso Rabada (3/26) got three wickets, while Anrich Nortje (2/21) took two wickets and Axar Patel (1/18) picked up one wicket.

One more team fielding first after winning the toss. One more team winning the match after losing the toss. While captains are focusing on respecting the conditions, it might not be a bad idea to respect the recent outcomes too. #CSKvDC #IPL2020

In a lighter vein, to tweak the Agneepath dialogue, hawa tez chalta hai Dinakar Rao, topi sambal, ud jayega, it has to be said now, "overs jaldi nikhal rahe hai CSK, scoring sambal, fuz jayenge". #IPL2020 #CSKvDC @vinodkambli349

This @DelhiCapitals looks solid team. Great win vs csk. Really impress with @ShreyasIyer15 ‘a captainship, the way he hold three crucial overs for the back end of #rabada was important if any batsman would have been on song. #prithvishaw #RishabPant #nortje
