IPL 2020: KL Rahul Is Going To Be A Great Captain For KXIP- Mandeep Singh

Kings XI Punjab batsman Mandeep Singh has opined that KL Rahul will be a wonderful captain for the Punjab based side in the IPL. Kings XI have made some strong decisions this year, with letting Captain Ravichandran Ashwin leave, KL Rahul will captain the side this season, under new coach Anil Kumble.

The KXIP squad are having their training sessions in UAE after they completed their mandatory quarantine. Kings XI Punjab have never won the IPL, playing the final once in the 12 year history of the league. Kings XI Punjab started off both 2018 and 2019 campaigns strong but lost track in the later stages and failed to book a place in the playoffs.

I have no doubts that Rahul will make a wonderful captain: Mandeep Singh

28 year old, Mandeep Singh returned for a second stint with Kings XI Punjab in 2019. He has shown trust in his new captain KL Rahul who he has known for a long time, playing together at the NCA. He said Rahul has good communication with his squad and has been effective so far in assigning roles to players.

“I have known Rahul since my younger days. We were together in the NCA, and would compete with each other. I have been aggressive from the start, but he has always been calm and composed. The way he has matured over the years is just unfathomable. We can’t say much right now, as a captain’s mettle is proved when he encounters tough situations during matches. I feel he will handle those situations very well. His communication with the players has been truly wonderful thus far, and has been effective assigning roles to players.” Mandeep Singh told Timesnownews.com.

We had been clearly instructed by Anil sir to take it easy in these initial training sessions, and not go overboard. We aren’t here to impress anybody. All of us are playing after such a long break. I have no doubts that Rahul will make a wonderful captain.” Mandeep Singh added.
