It may sound a bit surprising, but the truth is that in this Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Delhi Capitals (DC) are flying high, after a tough start, on the back of their two wins in the last three games, while Mumbai Indians (MI) have been struggling in many aspects.

Mumbai Indians still seem to be trying to find their best playing eleven. It was quite peculiar that after a decent season of 241 runs for young Nehal Wadhera at a strike rate of close to 150 didn’t start this season. When he made his return against Rajasthan Royals (RR), he crunched 49 runs at a strike rate of over 200, besides sharing a 99-run stand with Tilak Verma.

Nuwan Thusara, their Lasith Malinga-type of slinger, didn’t have a great outing with 0/28 in three overs, but he could make an impact going forward in the competition.

For Delhi, it took them five games to unleash the beast of young Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk. With the injury and off-form of David Warner, the 22-year-old got a chance to show his talent at the top. His 163 runs in this IPL 2024 have come at a strike rate of 211.69 with an average of over 40. He could be a start for DC in the coming seasons.

Their worry has been the bowling. Kuldeep Yadav is the joint second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, while Axar Patel has an economy of just over seven. But none of the pacers have stood up. The veteran Ishant Sharma has missed out on injuries, while Anrich Nortje is going through a nightmare.

The DC vs MI clash, to be held on April 27 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium give a picture of both of the team’s fate.
