Delhi Capitals (DC) will host the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 43rd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The DC vs MI encounter will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on April 27, 2024.
Mumbai didn’t make a great start in the 17th season of the tournament. The first three losses pushed them to the bottom of the points table. The decision to make Hardik Pandya the captain of the franchise hasn’t clicked so far. Two successive wins by a healthy margin gave them something to celebrate, before losing the ‘El-Clasico’ against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Their defeat to Rajasthan Royals (RR) dropped them to the eighth rank with a net run rate (NRR) of -0.227.
The batting performance of the five-time champions has been inconsistent this season. Their bowling too, apart from Jasprit Bumrah, has looked cold. The India speedster is the leading wicket-taker of this IPL 2024 so far with 13 scalps at an economy of just 6.37. All the other MI bowlers have an economy of over 10 in this IPL.
The hosts for this game, Delhi almost followed the same route against Mumbai. They began their campaign with one solitary victory against CSK in their first five games. But they turned the table to make a great return in the competition with three victories in the last four games.

One of the positives for them has been the comeback of their captain Rishabh Pant, who is now the third-highest run-getter of the tournament with 342 runs at a strike rate of 161.32. But their bowling too has been a huge concern for them. Except for their two spinners- Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, all the other pacers have flown around the ground. Anrich Nortje’s economy of 13.36 has put pressure on their death bowling. Delhi’s 13.22 economy in the last five overs of this IPL 2024 is the worst among all the franchises.
A win in this DC vs MI clash will push them among the top five teams. However, they need to take care of their damaged net run rate (NRR) of -0.386. On the other hand, MI’s victory in this DC vs MI clash will keep them in the playoffs race.
