IPL 2018: Gautam Gambhir Lashes Out at Trollers After Delhi Daredevils’ Third Defeat

Delhi Daredevils (DD) captain Gautam Gambhir, in his latest column, slammed Delhi Daredevils critics, claiming that his team hasn’t committed any crime.
The Delhi-based outfit has managed to win only one out of the four games played so far in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.
Interestingly, Delhi is the only team to have not played a home match until now.
Also, the team would be playing their home game only on April 23rd against Kings XI Punjab at Ferozshah Kotla Stadium. Before that, they play against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 21.
“India has 49 crore smartphone users. A healthy chunk of this number is on social media/Whatsapp and the other. Many of these are sitting with their judgement glasses on, eager to hurl verdicts,” wrote Gautam Gambhir in his column for TOI.

After the humiliating loss against Knight Riders, Gambhir received advice for dropping the non-performing players. The critics also want the leader – to hand an opportunity to young prospects who are warming the bench in Delhi camp.
“Drop Mohammad Shami and play Avesh Khan. Drop Vijay Shankar and play Prithvi Shaw. Besides there are too many Ds in the name Delhi Daredevils which is not a good sign as D stands for defeat,” the two-time IPL winning captain.
“With one win in four games, social media trial has begun for Delhi Daredevils. It seems my team has committed some sort of crime,” Gambhir continued.
The more worrisome fact for the Daredevils is their bowling which conceded 200-plus in the previous two games.
Hadn’t it been for Roy, who flopped against KKR, Delhi would not have clinched the win against Mumbai at Wankhede.
“We are all concerned that we conceded almost 200 runs in two consecutive games. We won against Mumbai Indians but even that night I went to bed worried. Yes, we should have been more competitive against Kolkata Knight Riders. But if you read what your smartphone has to say it would seem that we have given them a walkover!” adds the southpaw.
Gautam Gambhir, until now, has been captaining his troops well, even though results have shown a different story.
“IPL is a sort of a tournament where it is crucial to get combinations right. I am not one to hide behind excuses but in a new team like ours getting right combinations can take a few games,” concluded Gautam Gambhir.
