IPL: Rohit Sharma Eyes Another Successful Season With Mumbai Indians 1

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has said he enjoys being the captain of the team. The Indian opener was appointed the captain in 2013 after the outfit failed to achieve success in the previous seasons. Their decision finally paid rich dividends as Rohit led the team to the IPL glory in his very first season. He followed it by winning the Champions League T20 in the same year. In 2015, he became only the third skipper after MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir to lead his side to two IPL titles.

Thanking everyone related to the team, Rohit told the Press Trust of India:“Firstly, when I was appointed as captain (of MI), it’s is a huge honour to lead the side. We all know, their lies so much responsibility. When the captaincy came along, I was ready and prepared for it and also I feel captaincy is not just done by one person, it takes help of lot of people. I got support  of my players, my support staff as well and we cannot forget, the support from owners as well, they showed a lot of faith in me, giving me the responsibility, but I always enjoy challenges and responsibility.”

The right-handed batsman, who is currently out of the Indian team after undergoing a surgery in London, spoke after Mumbai Indians collaborated with a leading brand for a collection for cricket fans.

The 2016 season did not go well for his team as they finished fifth but the Indian batting star is hoping for another good campaign in the upcoming season.

“So I always look forward to it whenever I get an opportunity. In the last four years, when I was the captain, we have done pretty well and I look forward for another successful season which will be starting next year,” he concluded.
