The veteran fast bowler, who picked the most number of wickets for England, James Anderson has been ruled out for the second Test at Lords against the Australian Cricket Team. Following his calf injury at Edgbaston, the England board wants to put Anderson away from the second Test in order to give him time for the recovery.

Despite coming through a number of fitness tests in the lead-up to the game, Anderson lasted just four overs on the first morning before reporting tightness in his right calf, the same muscle that he had torn while bowling for Lancashire in a Championship fixture in early July.

An MRI scan during the week confirmed an injury and the England camp has already decided he won’t be available for selection for the next Test starting on August 14. World Cup hero Jofra Archer looms as the likely candidate to replace Anderson and make his Test debut at the home of cricket.
Without their record wicket-taker, England still managed to dismiss Australia for 284 as Broad stepped up to the occasion to claim 5-86. However, Steve Smith stole the show with his twin centuries in the first Ashes Test, which saw England at the receiving end.

As per ESPN Cricinfo, Jimmy Anderson ruled out of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s due to the calf injury he sustained on day 1 at Edgbaston. He will be reassessed on an ongoing basis regarding his availability for the rest of the series.
England has plenty of reserve options in Jofra Archer, Olly Stone and allrounder Sam Curran. Mostly, they would give the debut to Jofra Archer, who is in fine form. However, the inclusion of Sam Curran will give depth to the batting lineup for England.
