India’s gun pacer Jasprit Bumrah has picked the similarities between the leadership of former skipper MS Dhoni and current captain Virat Kohli. Bumrah had made his ODI and T20I debut under the captaincy of MS Dhoni and made his Test debut under Virat Kohli. The right-arm pacer has taken giant strides since making his debut and he is one of the best bowlers in the world.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni was a master in getting the best out of the players. Dhoni always led from the front and gave confidence to his players. The former skipper had his own way of leading the team and always led with a calm mind on his shoulders. Dhoni was able to lead India to glory in the T20 World Cup in 2007, 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Both the captains led with aplomb.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli has a different way and likes to take the bull by its horns. Kohli believes in going all out against the opposition and there are no second thoughts in his captaincy. The current Indian captain also has the advantage of a potent bowling line-up, which has helped India in reaping fruits.

Bumrah added both Kohli and Dhoni wants the bowler to take the ownership of their bowling. Both the captains also gives the freedom to the bowler to set their own field and bowl accordingly to the field.

“Both of them are pretty similar in the way that they want you to take ownership. They give you the field you want, the help you need. You take responsibility for your own bowling,” Jasprit Bumrah told Hindustan Times.

Jasprit Bumrah has done a great job for the Indian team and he has blossomed under the leadership of both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Both of these captains have delivered the goods for the Indian team.

Bumrah added that he enjoys bowling in the Test fold more than the limited-overs format. The ace paceman has played only 12 Test matches and he has made inroads as he has picked 62 wickets at a stunning average of 19.24.

“If you do well in Tests, you can do well in any format. Because people saw me in the IPL first, they think that’s what made me.”

Bumrah will return to action in the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka. The first T20I will be played at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on 5th January.
