Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has recently revealed his favourite cricketer in the Indian national cricket team.
India and Pakistan both are the cricket-crazy countries, and these desperate passions make them arch-rivals on the cricket field. However, most of the Indian and Pakistan players always maintain a healthy relationship between the two countries off the field.
Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad was one of the heroes for his nation during Imran Khan-led Pakistan’s victory in the 1992 Cricket World Cup. Miandad finished that tournament as the second most runs-scorer after scoring 437 runs in nine matches (average 62.42), including five half-centuries. Apart from that tournament, he was a legendary cricketer in Pakistan cricket history whose international career ran from 1975 to 1996.
Javed Miandad also coached the Pakistan national cricket team for several times. In present times, Miandad gives his opinion on his YouTube channel, mostly on cricket.
Recently, Miandad has revealed his best cricketer in the Indian team. The former Pakistan captain has chosen the present Indian captain Virat Kohli.
Miandad said according to PTI, “I was asked who is the best in the Indian cricket team, so I chose Virat Kohli.”
For a long time, Kohli has maintained the top-class performances in every format. The right-handed batsman is the no.1-ranked ODI batsman while he has just lost the no.1 position in the Test batting rankings (2nd position at present). Also, he is currently India’s second-best-ranked T20I batsman (10th position in the ICC T20I batting rankings).
Miandad added, “I don’t have to say much, his performance itself tells a lot. People have to admit this as stats are visible.
Virat Kohli performed really well in South Africa: Javed Miandad
Talking more about Kohli, Miandad praised his performances in South Africa or in every kind of challenging wicket.
Miandad claimed, “Virat performed really well in South Africa; even on an uneven wicket, he scored a hundred. You cannot say he is scared of fast-bowlers or he cannot play on bouncy pitches or he doesn’t play spinners well.”
Talking about his batting technique, Miandad lauded his clean-hitting style. The former Pakistan captain has claimed that the batsman Kohli has a class.
Miandad said, “He is a clean hitter. Look at his shots, it feels so good to watch him bat. He has class.”
After making his international debut in 2008, Virat Kohli has played 86 Tests, 248 ODIs and 82 T20Is where the right-handed batsman has scored 7240 runs (average 53.62), 11867 runs (average 59.33) and 2794 runs (average 50.80) respectively.
