Everything comes with pros and cons and the same applies to social media. In moments, it makes you the superstar and in the very next moment, it can degrade your self-esteem. It’s important for a person to not attach himself emotionally with these popular sites this is what many felt in between. Well, Indian cricketer Jaydev Unadkat also believes the same.
After facing trollers over his IPL game, Unadkat expressed that its important to ignore the unknown faces in the social media. Ahead of the IPL 2020 auction, he was released by Rajasthan Royals (RR). But was bought by the Royals in the auction for INR 3.5 crores.
Critics can help you but trollers should be ignored: Jaydev Unadkat
Jaydev Uandkat is currently busy playing the Ranji Trophy match for Saurashtra. While speaking to ESPNCricinfo, pacer expressed that at the start, it was difficult for him to ignore the trollers but now he has learned the art to ignore such voices.
“We play this beautiful game for fans, for people to follow it and love it. But in our country, it happens that a minority do it out of hatred or jealousy. Critics can help you at times, tell you things that you don’t see in your game. But people who just abuse you all the time don’t really matter. When it started, it was difficult because I wasn’t used to it. But I’m pretty much immune to all that now. You have to develop a thick skin if you are playing cricket in India,” the pacer said.
Jaydev Unadkat release and bought story:
In 2017, the pacer came in limelight with his performance for Rising Pune Supergiant(s) (RPS). Which led to his hike in IPL. He was bought for a whopping amount of INR 11.5 crores by RR for the IPL 2018 edition. But he proved to be expensive for the Royals. Thus, he was released ahead of the IPL 2019 auction but was again bought by same franchise RR for INR 8.5 crores.
However, repeatedly for the third time, Royals released him ahead of the IPL 2020 Auction. And this time again Jaipur-based franchise shelled out for INR 3.5 crores. Subsequently, it invited trollers because he first released and then picked back into the squad.
In 2019, Unadkat bagged only 10 wickets in 11 games at an economy rate of 10.66. In 2018, he had picked 11 wickets in 15 outings, with an economy rate of 9.65.
