Several Australian greats, including Ian Chappell and Michael Clarke, have strongly recommended Victoria’s special talent Will Pucovisk to be in Australia’s Test team for the Down Under tour. Australia’s head coach Justin Langer has also acknowledged the youngster’s special talent, but he seems not to agree to bring him into the national setup soon.
As Australia’s Test opener Joe Burns had a disappointing summer season, cricket boffins have mentioned Will Pucovski to be his replacement after seeing the youngster’s stunning performance in the 2020 Sheffield Sheild edition.
The 22-year-old has produced successive double hundreds, scoring an unbeaten 255 last week against South Australia and 202 against Western Australia.

Justin Langer admitted that Will Pucovski has been making a statement with his brilliant performance and thus, cannot be ignored.
“(Will’s) been amazing hasn’t he, and it’s exactly what we are looking for, I’ve said it for a very long time that we want guys who are outside of the team to bang so hard you can’t ignore them,” Justin Langer said. “The fact is he’s been so good we can’t ignore him, he’s been brilliant.
But Justin Langer remarked that the opening pair Burns and Warner have a ‘real synergy’ and that as of this moment, they are likely to stick with that opening combination for India’s Test series.
“That said I’ve also been consistent with the messaging that last summer we loved the combination of Joe Burns and David Warner, they have a real synergy, so at this point I’d say that will remain the same.
“But what Will’s doing, what Cameron Green has done, is making a real statement through sheer weight of runs and that’s always been a strong foundation for the strength of Australian cricket,” he said.
Justin Langer on Cameron Green:

Talking about another youngster Cameron Green, Justin Langer is happy with his inclusion but has said that his injuries might hinder his action as workload management is a priority. The former Australian cricketer said that they don’t want to be patient for
“We know he’s got enormous talent, but he’s had two stress fractures. The way we manage Cameron Green, as Western Australia are at the moment, will be a combined effort.
“We have to show the due respect that’s required and we have to patient. We’ve learned that over and over again,” Justin Langer concluded.
Meanwhile, the Indian team has landed in Australia. Team India’s captain Virat Kohli will be with the team until the first Test match which will be played under lights in Adelaide. He will not feature in the last three matches because he has taken paternity leave.
