Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owner and Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan attended the BCCI’s meeting where owners of every franchise were present — to discuss the future of the upcoming edition of the league (IPL 2020) amid the outbreak of coronavirus.
On Friday, BCCI officially announced that the IPL 2020 has been postponed till 15th April while the game will also be held closed doors.
Shah Rukh Khan informed about the IPL owner’s meeting:
Taking to Twitter, Shah Rukh Khan informed that BCCI is taking a close look at the situation and will take all the measures for the prevention of Covid-19. He also hoped that the virus subsides so that the popular T20 league can resume quickly.
“Wonderful to meet all the Franchise owners ‘off the field’ so to say. The meeting by @Bcci and @ipl was to reiterate what all of us feel…safety first of the spectators, players management & cities we play in. All directives of the health agencies & govt to be followed,” Sharukh Khan wrote.
Sharukh Khan further added, “I hope the spread of the virus subsides & the show can go on. BCCI & team owners in consultation with the govt will keep a close watch & decide the way fwd in the health interest of ever1. Meanwhile, the training camp of CSK has also been suspended by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. Hundreds of people used to gather at MA Chidambaram Stadium on a daily basis to watch MS Dhoni batting in the nets. Thus, to curb the mass gathering, the practice sessions have been stopped.
As of now, worldwide more than 1,40,000 cases have been reported while in India the cases have risen to 83 as reported by the government and two deaths have also been reported so far in India.
Well, states like Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Delhi have restricted public gathering.
