In the ongoing T20I series history, the right-handed batsman not only became the most run-scorer for India, but he also finished as the second most run-getter.
While India are currently busy in the five-match T20I series against the hosts New Zealand, KL Rahul scored 224 runs in five innings with an average of 56.00.
The right-handed opening batsman, who is also playing the wicketkeeper role, scored 56, 57*, 27, 39 and 45 runs respectively in this series.
After his fifth innings of this series at the Bay Oval (Mount Maunganui) on Sunday (2nd February), Rahul became the second most run-scorer in the bilateral T20I series history.
However, the record-holder Damiao Couana (Mozambique) played a seven-match T20I series against the hosts Malawi in November 2019 as he scored 233 runs in seven innings of that series.

KL Rahul surpasses Virat Kohli:
However, KL Rahul became the most run-scorer among the Indian batsmen in a bilateral T20I series. The previous record-holder was Virat Kohli who scored 199 runs in the three-match bilateral T20I series against the hosts Australia in January 2016.
