The young wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is going through in a tough time in his cricket career. During the Thiruvananthapuram T20I on Sunday (8th December) night, the Indian wicketkeeper Pant dropped a crucial catch behind the wicket. Soon after that mistake, the crowd started MS Dhoni chants, and it made unhappy to the Indian captain Virat Kohli.

India are currently busy in the home T20I series against Windies where they played the penultimate game of the three-match T20I series at Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday night. In this series, the Indian fielders have tough experiences as they dropped many chances. Though India won the first T20I of this series at Hyderabad, Windies managed to claim a thrashing victory in the second T20I at Thiruvananthapuram.

After losing the toss, the hosts India managed to score 170/7 (20 overs). In reply, Windies had a struggling start, but the hosts failed to take advantage. During the fifth over of that second innings, Indian fielders dropped two big opportunities.

The Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was bowling in that over while Washington Sundar first dropped the Caribbean opener Lendl Simmons at the mid-off.

Rishabh Pant just failed to grab the opportunity of Evin Lewis

Later, in that same over, Evin Lewis had an outside edge that travelled to the wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant. Pant made his best effort to grab that ball, and he almost achieved success on that. While he managed to pick that ball with his gloves, he failed to hold that ball when his hands landed on the ground as it slipped from his hands.

Rishabh Pant has already faced huge criticism for his consistently poor performances. Some of the spectators were unstoppable when the youngster dropped Lewis despite his nice effort. Once he dropped that opportunity, the crowd started MS Dhoni chant.

Indian captain Virat Kohli didn’t like that attitude from the fans. Earlier, he has already requested to the cricket fans to encourage the youngster in his tough time. Now, during that on-field incident, he showed a gesture which suggested to encourage Rishabh Pant instead of attacking him.

Ultimately, Windies won that T20I match at Thiruvananthapuram. While the openers managed to put a 73-run partnership, Lendl Simmons guided the visitors to the easy victory with a comfortable chase.

Earlier in that match, Rishabh Pant played a crucial knock of unbeaten 33 runs off 22 balls.
