Kolkata Born UAE Spinner Rishabh Mukherjee Wants To Play For India

Kolkata born Rishabh Mukherjee, who plays for United Arab Emirates (UAE) holds a dream of playing for India one day. He has caught the eye of everyone with his performance in the ongoing U-19 Asia Cup. He took six wickets in three matches though UAE didn’t qualify for the semi-finals.

Rishabh made significant contributions in UAE qualifying for the U-19 Asia Cup and subsequently the U19 World Cup in South Africa next year. When Rishabh Mukherjee was five-years-old, his family shifted from Kolkata to Dubai. His father was also a professional cricket player and now he wants his son to follow his dream.

Rishabh Mukherjee revealed his plan after the U-19 World cup. The 18-year wants to represent his native country one day and for that, he is planning to move back to Kolkata. He wants to give his best and play for his state Bengal. Rishabh also divulged that he is in talks with the coaches in Kolkata for his future.

“My dream is to play for India. I wish to move back to Kolkata and try and get into the Bengal team by getting into a first division club after the U19 World Cup is over,” Rishabh was quoted as saying by Times Now.

Rishabh Mukherjee has impressed everyone during World cup qualifying rounds as he took nine wickets in just five matches. While playing for UAE he has taken 15 wickets in eight matches. The young player follows Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon. All eyes will be on the young off-spinner when he takes the field for UAE in the upcoming U19 World Cup.

“I’m not a big fan of variations, I personally think off-spin can be bowled in different ways and Nathan Lyon does that the best,” Rishabh concluded.
