Every youngster would dream for a debut like Kyle Jamieson is having against India at home in Wellington. Donning proud whites, the lanky pacer came in the scheme after Trent Boult and Neil Wagner were injured and were out of the limited-overs series. The New Zealand young gun is currently playing the maiden Test match against India at Basin Reserve. In his debut match, the Jamieson has achieved a new feat not because of his bowling attach but with his gritty approach with the bat in hand.

During New Zealand’s innings, Jamieson hit an entertaining 45-ball 44. The six-feet and eight inches tall man fired four maximums and one boundary at Basin Reserve. He went on to join Australia’s Michael Clarke for the record of hitting most sixes on Test debut. He also broke the 55-year-old record for the highest score by a No.9 batter on Test debut for the Kiwis. Previously, Graham Vivian held the record against India in 1965.

On the first day of the Test match, Jamieson ended the innings of Mayank Agarwal, who was the only player from the top-order that should temperament to face the New Zealand pacers.

Moreover, his greatest achievement might be the wicket of Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Jamieson scalped figures of four for 39 to dismantle the Indian line-up in Wellington.

Earlier, Jamieson had also impressed in the ODI series which New Zealand went on to win. In the second match, he stitched up a crucial partnership with Ross Taylor, to led the team by setting up a fighting total. He had scored unbeaten 25 runs and also had hit a couple of maximums to Jasprit Bumrah in the one-day contest.

Meanwhile, India has struggled so far, to record a strong partnership. Opener Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal had already lost their wickets. The Indian skipper was also sent for 19 off 43 balls.

Earlier, India could post only 165 in first innings. In response, Kiwis managed to score 348.
