Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal’s Chief Minister on Saturday visited the private Woodlands hospital where BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is admitted after complaining of chest pain and said the former India captain is doing fine following angioplasty to clear a blocked coronary artery.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president and former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who underwent angioplasty after suffering a “mild” heart attack, is stable and his health parameters are normal, according to the doctors’ confirmation.

Mamata Banerjee: Sourav Ganguly Is Fine Now
Sourav Ganguly became the BCCI president in October 2019 and under him, IPL 2020 was successfully carried out in UAE besides the first pink-ball Test against Bangladesh at Kolkata. Mamata Banerjee said the former skipper enquired about her health too. Mamata Banerjee also thanked the hospital authorities and doctors for treating him well and out of danger.
“He is fine now… He enquired about my health, too. I thank the hospital authority and the doctors,” Banerjee told reporters outside Woodlands Hospital here.
Earlier in the day, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife went to the hospital to enquire about the health of the 48-year-old cricket’s global icon. West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankar, whom Sourav Ganguly had called on at his official residence last week, also extended his best wishes.
“I am relieved to see ‘Dada’ (Ganguly) in his usual cheerful mood. I pray for his speedy recovery,” Dhankhar said.

A host of other personalities also visited the hospital during the day, including Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim and Minister of State for Sports Lakshmi Ratan Shukla. The left-handed batting great and BCCI president suffered a “mild” heart attack in the morning and was later diagnosed with three blocked coronary arteries, after which a stent was inserted in one to remove the blockage.
Cricket Fraternity Wishes Sourav Ganguly A Speedy Recovery
Sourav Ganguly tested negative for coronavirus and is “presently afebrile”, according to the latest medical update. He will undergo a routine ECG (electrocardiogram) test. He was diagnosed with three blocked coronary arteries on Saturday, following which a stent was inserted in one to remove the blockage.

Well, wishers wished him a speedy recovery. Cricketing fraternity led by ICC, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Mohammed Shami and Shikhar Dhawan prayed for his speedy recovery.
