Misbah-Ul-Haq Unhappy On Some Pakistan Players’ Training Attitude
Pakistan Head Coach and chief selector, Misbah-ul-Haq has felt very disappointed after observing a lack of discipline among the cricketers. He is also unhappy with the attitude of Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has taken the dual responsibilities of Pakistan men’s team after their disappointing performances in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Pakistan players’ fitness and on-field attitude were very disappointing during the CWC 2019.
After joining the Pakistan national cricket team, Misbah has given a huge importance on the players’ fitness. He has even brought restriction on players’ food habit during international cricket.
Misbah’s first assignment as the Pakistan Head-Coach-cum-chief-selector was the recent home limited-overs series against inexperienced Sri Lanka. Pakistan won the three-match ODI series by 2-0. However, they totally disappointed in the three-match T20I series. The no.1-ranked T20I side Pakistan faced a whitewash against inexperienced Sri Lanka.
Pakistan players once again disappointed with their on-field attitude. According to the recent report of PTI, Misbah has felt that some players are taking training lightly. He is also unimpressed with the attitude of Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed during the recent series.
A source claimed according to PTI, “What has disturbed Misbah the most in his first assignment as head coach and the chief selector is the reluctance of some players to follow directions of the management and do proper training to keep high fitness standards.
“He is unhappy that some players are just too relaxed and take training lightly and are not working on improving their cricket discipline. He has also not been encouraged by the attitude of captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed whom he feels shies away from taking responsibility when the chips are down.”
Misbah-ul-Haq feels the players are making excuses in training
That source added, “Several times he felt they were making excuses to shy away from training and proper nets. He got the feeling they had some sort of excuse ready to go easy on their training.
“Batsman, Haris Sohail has developed a painful habit of making excuses for having some niggling problem or pain when asked to push himself in training.
“Another problem which confronts Misbah is that most of the players don’t appear to have the cricket discipline to follow and execute plans on the field which are discussed in the dressing room.”
Misbah is also unhappy with the culture of some head coaches in domestic cricket.
A source claimed, “Two players bluntly informed their team’s head coaches that they would reach for the National T20 Championship matches in Faisalabad on the morning of the games. When Misbah came to know about this he told the head coaches they should be more firm with the players and ensure they joined their provincial team a day before the matches.”
