The Hyderabad cricket association Apex Council on Wednesday removed former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin as President of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). The decision was ‘unanimous’ said the apex council.
Mohammad Azharuddin Removed From The Post Of Hyderabad Cricket Association President
The Apex Council terminated Mohammad Azharuddin citing pending cases against him. The Council also suspended his membership and issued a show-cause notice to former India cricket team captain elected as President of HCA on 27 September 2019.
“After considering the complaints made by the members against you (Azharuddin), it was decided at the Apex Council meeting on the 10th of this month to issue a show-cause notice on the ground that you have acted in violation of the rules. The Apex Council is suspending you and your membership of HCA is being terminated until completion of the inquiry on these complaints,” the showcase notice said.
Since his taking over the HCA, it has been witnessing a constant murmuring with members alleging Mohammed Azharuddin for taking unilateral decisions without consulting the panel.
Earlier on the 10th apex council meeting held on 25 May had decided to serve him a show cause. The show-case notice pointed out that he is a mentor of a private cricket club in Dubai which participates in a T10 cricket tournament that is not recognized by the BCCI.
Mohammad Azharuddin’s Tenure As HCA President Marred By Controversies
Mohammad Azharuddin was elected as President of HCA on September 27, 2019, but his tenure has been marred by a string of controversies. Former India skipper Mohammed Azharuddin has been sacked from the post of president of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) after the state cricket governing body received complaints of the alleged violation of rules on Thursday.
The Apex Council has issued a show-cause notice to him stating the reason for his removal and also cancelling his HCA membership. Mohammad Azharuddin, who was elected as the HCA president in September 2019, had not disclosed his association with a private cricket club in Dubai which participates in a tournament unrecognised by the BCCI, said the notice.
The notice also said that he needs to send an answer to the notice within a week, failure of which will lead to consequences.
