MS Dhoni-led CSK will play tournament opener:
CSK team has experienced spinners in the squad and the UAE pitches favor them. However, there seasoned spinner Harbhajan Singh has pulled out of the tournament citing personal reasons. Also, their batting mainstay Suresh Raina returned to India after landing with the team in the UAE. He had also given personal reasons for his sudden departure from the tournament.
As of now, CSK is yet to announce Raina’s replacement. There are speculations that he might return but several reports claim that BCCI will not be in favour of Raina’s comeback.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2020 schedule has been announced and the MS Dhoni-led side will play the tournament opener against Mumbai Indians. It will be interesting to see who CSK will perform without their two-star performers. Also, they had fewer practice sessions because they served an extended quarantine period as the 13 personnel, including two players, tested positive of the coronavirus.
