I Am Sure MS Dhoni Knows What’s Best For Him: Sourav Ganguly
The entire Indian cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the next step of the former Indian World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni. Former Indian captain and the present Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has recently claimed that Dhoni knows to take the best decision for him.
Since the heart-breaking semi-final defeat of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, MS Dhoni hasn’t played a cricket match. While he has remained silent about his future in cricket, and the BCCI hasn’t clarified about his future project, Dhoni’s retirement speculation is growing up with the time progress. Recently, MS Dhoni has requested to wait at least till January 2020 before getting an answer.
Sourav Ganguly has enough confidence in MS Dhoni. Ganguly feels that Dhoni knows what the best decision for him is.
Ganguly told ANI, “It is up to him, with so much of experience, I am sure he knows what’s best for him.”
New Zealand squad will be picked by the same committee – Sourav Ganguly
MS Dhoni has already missed the last six limited-overs series for India. He is likely to be unavailable for the next home limited-overs series in January against Sri Lanka and Australia. Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly has clarified that MSK Prasad-led selection will select the Indian team for the New Zealand tour, which will begin in late January 2020.
The BCCI president said, “New Zealand squad will be picked by the same committee on the 23rd. After that, we will look at the new committee. Top cricketers are not coming for the selection committee, as they are engaged in other activities, at the end of the day, it is their personal call.”
Sourav Ganguly joined as the new BCCI president on October 2019. Since then, he is busy to take the crucial decisions that can develop Indian cricket continuously. The BCCI president feels that the National Cricket Academy (NCA) has crucial importance in Indian cricket.
Ganguly claimed, “I am just two-three months old into the job. Pink ball Test was one step, NCA was another. Injuries will happen in sport, that is a part and parcel of the sport. NCA is a spot of excellence for the BCCI.”
IPL is a huge platform for everyone
Sourav Ganguly also gave his view about the cash-rich league Indian Premier League (IPL). On last Thursday (19th December), Kolkata hosted the IPL 2020 auction.
Talking about the IPL, Ganguly said, “It’s a huge platform for everyone, be it seniors or juniors. It is the biggest league in the world, every stadium is jam-packed. It has become its own brand, cricket has taken over. You can see that cricket has become so exciting and in the end, the tournament will remain.”
Sourav Ganguly has also shown his support to the umpires. While the IPL 2020 is bringing an additional umpire to check the no-balls, Ganguly believes that it will help to solve some big problems.
He added, “Umpires can make mistakes, everyone does. That’s why we have a new system in place where the no-balls will be monitored from outside and that will help solve the problem.”
Talking about India-Pakistan bilateral international cricket series in future, Ganguly has commented that it is dependent on government’s decision.
