Indian cricket fans are eagerly waiting to see MS Dhoni‘s return in Indian jersey. Since July 2019, Dhoni hasn’t played a cricket match yet. While his international return is still unsure, Dhoni was recently shown to bat at training.
Since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, MS Dhoni has taken the limelight for his uncertain cricket future. The former Indian captain and present wicketkeeper-batsman has played his last cricket match during the semi-final of the CWC 2019 where they suffered a heartbreaking defeat against New Zealand.
Since then, MS Dhoni hasn’t played a cricket match yet. One by one limited-overs international series is going on but Dhoni is missing from the national squad.
After the CWC 2019, Dhoni has already missed the away limited-overs series against Windies, home T20I series against South Africa and Bangladesh. Due to these consistent missing, Dhoni’s retirement speculation is growing up.
Ahead of the Bangladesh T20I series, the chief national selector MSK Prasad has even claimed that they are moving on from Dhoni and focusing on the youngsters. It has given more room to the retirement speculation of Dhoni.
However, the 38-year-old MS Dhoni is silent on his cricket future. While Dhoni has huge experiences in international cricket, he guides the youngsters very well.
MS Dhoni has a very rich record in international cricket
MS Dhoni is a top performer in various roles – as a wicketkeeper, batsman, finisher etc. He was also one of the best captains in international cricket history. Under his leadership, India won the ICC World T20 2007, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, ICC Champions Trophy 2013 etc. Also, his leadership guided the Indian national cricket team to climb up the no.1 position in the Test rankings.
After making debut in international cricket in December 2004, Dhoni has played 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20Is.
Recently, during the fourth day of the Ranchi Test against South Africa, Dhoni was present in the Indian team’s dressing room. However, the Indian cricket fans haven’t seen him play cricket for a long time.
However, very recently, MS Dhoni was present at the training of Jharkhand States Cricket Association (JSCA) where he also participated in the net practise. Now, many have the questions whether it is a sign of Dhoni’s return in cricket.
India are currently busy in the home Test series against Bangladesh. After this series, India will host the limited-overs series against Windies from 6th December to 22nd December 2019. In that tour, Windies will play the three-match T20I series and three-match ODI series against the hosts India.
Now, we have to first see whether MS Dhoni will be available for the selection for the forthcoming home limited-overs series against Windies.
