Ever since the conclusion of ICC World Cup 2019, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is yet to play a single game for India in the limited-overs format. He joined the Army and served for 15 days before going to the US on a short trip. As he was once again unavailable for the South Africa series, there were many speculations surrounded him. Amidst, N Srinivasan confirms MS Dhoni leading CSK once again in IPL 2020.

Recently, Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s throwback tweet, depicting a match when the then skipper MS Dhoni and Kohli guided India to a memorable win versus Australia in World Twenty20 2016, triggered a massive debate among the sports fraternity.

Speculations on Dhoni’s retirement started doing rounds as the entire media prepared for one of their busiest day at work. With the squad announcement for the home series against South Africa looming, that tweet led to a frenzy on social media

Twitteratis correlated Kohli’s tweet with paying a tribute to Dhoni’s awaited retirement from international cricket. The rumour mills were shut down after chairman of selectors MSK Prasad termed it as “false news”.

Despite Virat Kohli’s press conference, MS Dhoni’s absence from the national side remains a mystery to his avid fans and viewers across the globe. Hence, N Srinivasan, a former BCCI President and managing director of India Cements (which owns Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League), gave his verdict on Dhoni’s future in Indian cricket and in the IPL.

“I can say only one thing. Mahendra Singh Dhoni will only be the captain for the next IPL Chennai Super Kings next season,” stated the 74-year-old.

MS Dhoni is currently on a two-month sabbatical and is expected to be available for selection for India’s next limited-overs assignment. It is yet to be known whether Dhoni has got any ideas for the upcoming T20I World Cup 2020.
