India’s gun fast bowler Navdeep Saini has replaced injured Deepak Chahar for final One Day International against the West Indies. Chahar felt some pain in his lower back after the second ODI against the Windies. The BCCI medical team examined the fast bowler and they suggested that the Rajasthan player should take some rest to recuperate.
Meanwhile, earlier Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out due to knee injury and Mayank Agarwal had replaced him in the squad. However, the Karnataka batsman is yet to receive his chance in the ODI format. Furthermore, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was replaced by Shardul Thakur in the ODI squad. Thakur played in the second ODI at Visakhapatnam and also scalped one wicket in the last match.
Big blow for India.
“Deepak felt mild pain in his lower back following the second ODI played in Vizag on Wednesday,” the BCCI stated in a release on Thursday (December 19). “The BCCI medical team examined him and has suggested that the fast bowler needs some rest in order to fully recover. He has thus been ruled out of the final ODI.”
On the other hand, Navdeep Saini has impressed with his pace. Saini also did a fine job on the tour of the West Indies and he was able to grab his chance with both hands. Ergo, the Delhi fast bowler will like to deliver the goods if he gets to play in the all-important final.
The final ODI between India and the West Indies will take place at Cuttack on the 22nd of December. The series is tied 1-1 and both the teams will aim to be at their best in the decider.
