New Zealand's Amy Satterthwaite Falls 15 Runs Short Of Creating World Record 1
New Zealand's Amy Satterthwaite fell short by 15 runs in the wake to break world record of scoring five consecutive centuries in ODI's.

New Zealand women’s team member Amy Satterthwaite fell 15 runs short of breaking the world record of scoring five centuries in consecutive matches in ODIs. In the second ODI against Australia in Mount Maunganui, the all-rounder got out on 85, a well made though, but couldn’t become the first ever to achieve the feat.

Although, by hammering four consecutive tons, she became the first woman and only player after Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara to achieve such a milestone in 50-over cricket. Batting stalwart Sangakkara created history during the 2015 World Cup by notching back to back hundreds against Scotland, England, Bangladesh and Australia.

For many years, players from various countries have managed to rack up tons on three successive occasions but never four until the southpaw did it.

Talking about Satterthwaite, she began her dream run against Pakistan in November last year when she brought up three hundreds in a match-winning cause. The fourth one came against Australia in Auckland on Sunday, which the hosts won by five wickets.

On Thursday, Amy did get a lifeline but later she lost her wicket on 85. The match, though went in Australia’s favour, as they won it by four wickets.
