A century or a hat-trick both are the special feats in any cricket format. There are very few players who have achieved any of these incredible feats in T20 career. But when a player achieves both these incredible feats in T20 career, he emerges as a more special player.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2019 is set to begin this Saturday (23rd March). In the past 11 IPL editions, only a few players hit centuries or took a hat-trick. Total 32 cricketers have hit IPL centuries, and 14 cricketers have taken IPL hat-trick. However, there are only two cricketers who have scored a century and also taken a hat-trick in IPL career.
Rohit Sharma
In his IPL career, Rohit Sharma has claimed one hat-trick and also hit one century. Playing for now-defunct Deccan Chargers (DC), the off-spinner took a hat-trick against Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2009. Later in IPL 2012, the right-handed batsman hit his only IPL century when he was playing for his present side Mumbai Indians.
On 6th May 2009, Rohit Sharma claimed his IPL hat-trick against Mumbai Indians at Centurion. In the second innings of that match, the off-spinner completed a heroic hat-trick after dismissing Abhishek Nayar, Harbhajan Singh and JP Duminy in his three successive deliveries.
As a Mumbai Indians batsman, Rohit Sharma hit his maiden IPL century on 12th May 2012 when they were playing against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Kolkata. The right-handed batsman completed his century in 52 balls and scored a match-winning 109* off 60 balls in first innings of the match.
Shane Watson
The former Australian cricketer Shane Watson has hit four centuries and also taken one hat-trick in IPL career. The right-handed batsman scored two centuries for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and other two centuries for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On the other hand, the right-arm medium-pacer claimed his maiden IPL hat-trick in IPL 2014 when he served for Rajasthan Royals.
Shane Watson hit his first IPL century for Rajasthan Royals when they faced CSK at Chennai on 22nd April 2013. The right-handed opening batsman scored 101 off 61 balls in the first innings of the match.
In the next year, Shane Watson claimed his first IPL hat-trick when his side Rajasthan Royals was playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Ahmedabad on 8th May 2014. The right-arm medium-pacer dismissed Shikhar Dhawan, Moises Henriques and Karn Sharma in his three consecutive deliveries.
