ToggleThe no.1-ranked Test team India tasted their first defeat in the ICC World Test Championship history after recently losing the Wellington Test against the hosts New Zealand.
It was the first game of the two-match Test series between the hosts New Zealand and the visitors India. While the hosts won that match by ten wickets, India can only save the series by winning the second and last Test. The series decider final Test of this series will be played at Hagley Oval (Christchurch) from 29th February.
While the upcoming Christchurch Test will be the must-win game for India, the visitors can make three changes from the last Test playing XI. These possible changes have been briefly discussed here.
Shubman Gill replacing Prithvi Shaw
After more than a year of his debutant Test series, Prithvi Shaw finally made his Test comeback in the last game at Wellington. In that tough batting condition, the inexperienced Indian opener failed in both those innings (16 and 14). Though it is a very early time in his international career, the Indian team management may give rest to this youngster and introduce another youngster in Test cricket as the 20-year-old Shubman Gill.
Shubman Gill is the uncapped player in Test cricket. He has only played two ODIs, and both were in early 2019 during India’s tour of New Zealand. However, in the recent first-class cricket, Shubman Gill is in outstanding form with the bat. That’s why many cricket fans are desperate to see him in Test cricket soon.
