Quinton De Kock Shares How He Will Take South Africa Captaincy

India vs South Africa first T20I match was abandoned without playing a ball because of continuous rain. Now both the teams have headed for the next match in Mohali. This will be the first time for Quinton de Kock will head the young T20I team. Ahead of the second match, de Kock on Tuesday shared his feeling about his first-time in captaincy.
As South African national cricket team is running under the transition period, Quinton de Kock is also not sure how he will manage. He feels that he doesn’t want to put pressure on himself and wants to go with the flow.

“Not too concerned to be honest. It is a new stepping stone in my career, gives me extra responsibility. Not sure if it would affect me negatively or positively,” said the wicket-keeper batsman.
Gautam Gambhir has also earlier said that he likes Quinton de Kock playing as a batsman. But don’t want captaincy to interrupt the batsman game.
IPL is a big thing for me: Quinton de Kock
South African team have inexperienced but talented players. Quinton de Kock feels that they have missed one game which is not fair. As the team is getting prepared for T20 World Cup 2020, they need experience.
“It is a bit of negative. We would have liked to play at Dharamshala. We would like to play as many matches heading into the 20-20 World Cup next year so losing out on one game is not ideal. But it is what it is. It is now a two-match series. It would be an exciting format so we will see how things go,” de Kock said.
Quinton de Kock shares that Indian Premier League (IPL) is the biggest thing he has achieved in his life. He feels great to be the part of the IPL finals and winning it.
“It is the biggest thing I have won so far. What can I say? If we win a World Cup that would be the biggest achievement. IPL final is a big achievement for any cricketer. As cricketers, we want to be part of IPL finals and World Cup finals. Everyone has an opinion. My opinion is mine. It is the biggest thing I have achieved so far.
As South Africa has the fast bowler Kagiso Rabada who is being thought to be the tough player for India. His fast bowling can make the players uncomfortable. Quinton de Kock said that Rabada plays positively and is a good competition.

Asked about the Virat Kohli versus Kagiso Rabada contest, he added: “They both are good players in their own way. It will be a good contest. They like being very positive in the way they play.”
