The 19-year old Ravi Bishnoi has turned crorepati after getting bidder in the IPL 2020 auction. He would have never imagined that the IPL champions Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab would have a bidding war to get his service, which ended the Kings bagging him for INR 2 Crore.
The youngster had a got a golden chance to train himself under his idol, Anil Kumble, who is the newly appointed head coach of Kings. Bishnoi grew up as the leg spinner after watching the videos of the former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble.
The lanky cricketer is capable of turning the ball big and also a trustworthy lower-order batsman. However, he hasn’t played much cricket in the domestic side. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy 2018-19, he played four matches for Rajasthan and picked four wickets. This year in the T20 domestic tournament, he played two games and picked up two wickets. He also scored 22* runs in the semi-final against Tamil Nadu in the Syed Mushtaq Trophy 2019-20.
Ravi Bishnoi Included in the U-19 Squad for World Cup
He made the debut in List A cricket in September this year. In five Vijay Hazare Trophy games for Rajasthan, he took seven wickets and registered best figures of three for 49 runs. In six List A cricket, he has picked eight wickets at the economy rate of 5.63.
He has also been included in India’s Under-19 squad which will be touring South Africa for the U-19 World Cup 2020. Ravi Bishnoi has got the opportunity of impressing everyone before his stint in the IPL 2020 edition.
However, he needs to work more on his ability. KXIP coach Anil Kumble will be keen to train the young spinner who has followed the journey of the former cricketer. Ravi Bishnoi initially started his journey as a medium-pacer but changed his style after watching Kumble’s bowling action. There are a lot of opportunities waiting for the teenager, he just needs to utilise these.
