Indian National Cricket Team head coach Ravi Shastri is in all praises for chinaman Kuldeep Yadav. Shastri maintained Kuldeep is the number spin bowler in overseas conditions for the Team India.
Shastri expressed delight to see the left-arm leg-spinner delivering goods on the Australia soil. Kuldeep while donning whites is earning the accolades. Earlier, he had reaped the rewards alongside leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal while bowling in tandem.
Kuldeep alongside Chahal has cemented their spot in the limited-overs fold. Recently, in the first two One-day Internationals against the Black Caps, claimed eight wickets in the first two games.
Kuldeep’s spin challenge impresses Shastri:
While making an entry in his first-ever Test in series Down Under, Kuldeep bowled brilliantly to eke out a five-wicket haul while deceiving Australian batsmen in the fourth and final Test of Australia-India series.
“Yes, and I was very impressed with the way Kuldeep bowled in Sydney. Even in Test cricket, it is going to be the age of wrist spin, especially in overseas Test cricket. The way he bowled in Sydney, he becomes our number one spinner in overseas Test cricket,” Shastri told Cricbuzz.
Earlier, Virat Kohli saw the spin duo in Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, particularly in the Test fold. However, since the debut of Kuldeep at Dharamsala in 2017 against Australia, the duo found it tough to feature on regular basis.
Shastri sees Kuldeep as a spin star:
The promising young spinner Kuldeep has given a tough competition to off-spinner Ashwin. The Chennai-based veteran Ashwin was the obvious choice for Team India in away conditions before the emerge of Kuldeep.
The 24-year-old Kanpur star Kuldeep has an outstanding outing in the Test circuit. So far, he has bagged 24 wickets in 10 innings of eight Test fixtures. To attribute this, Kuldeep claimed two five-wicket hauls and as many four-fors.
“He plays overseas Test cricket and he gets five wickets, so he becomes our primary overseas spinner. Going ahead, if we have to play one spinner, he is the one we will pick. There is a time for everyone (referring to Ashwin’s poor fitness record in 2018). But now Kuldeep is our frontline number one overseas spinner,” Shastri added.
On the other side, Kuldeep played 39 ODIs and 17 T20Is for India. The cunning bowler in limited-overs fold bagged 110 scalps under his belt.
