Women’s cricket is not popular among fans but is it has gradually become successful in gaining attention far and wide. Meanwhile, the recent gesture from the Australian men’s cricketer Mitchell Starc is winning the hearts of fans. The pacer’s wife Alyssa Healy is also representing the Australian women’s team. Her team will be competing against India’s women cricket team in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on 8th March.
To through support behind his wife, Starc sought leave from the ongoing ODI series between Australia and South Africa. Thus, it saw India premium off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin giving thumbs up to Starc’s heartwarming gesture.
Healy is the opener and the wicketkeeper for Australia’s women cricket team. So far, her best performances came against India and Bangladesh’s team, scoring 51 and 83 respectively.
Recently, Starc wanted to support his wife so he took the leave from the national duty. His move will surely create an impact worldwide and will surely encourage the fans to watch the title decider match.
Ashwin, who remains quite active on social media, took Twitter as he came to know of the news. “So refreshing to see this!! Well done,” he tweeted on Saturday.

Australian head coach Justin Langer also gave the reason behind releasing Starc from the squad
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance for Mitch to watch Alyssa in a home World Cup final and so we were happy to allow him to return home to support n hais wife and be part of a fantastic occasion,” Langer had said on Friday.
Meanwhile, the result of the three-match ODI series between Australia and South Africa is already decided as the Proteas are leading with an unassailable lead of 2-0.
