The selection of Ravindra Jadeja in Place of Ravichandran Ashwin was being criticised as Ashwin is a better performer against West Indies. But Jadeja proved that the selection of him was the correct decision.
India was at a spot of 189/6, and it was the time for Ravindra Jadeja to play. With his magic bat, he played the partnership 60 runs with Ishant. He hit six 4s and one sixer as he played a knock of 58 runs. The final scoreboard was 297 on Day 2 of the first Test Match.

He expressed that he was only focusing on playing positive cricket, and feels happy that skipper kept faith in him, and he has repaid.
“Obviously you feel good when the skipper believes in you, thinks of you as the main player. Luckily, I have been able to repay the faith by performing well,” he said.
Rishabh Pant this time also was not able to play for long in the field and was out in 24 runs. Then Ravindra Jadeja constantly talked Ishant in the field to put the strong partnership.
“I just looked to build a partnership. I was constantly talking to Ishant, and we talked about staying out in the middle for as long as possible. We were thinking about one over at a time,” he said.
“I am just very positive in my mind, my shot selection is positive. When Rishabh got out, I was talking to Ishant about staying out in the middle and building a partnership. It is not good for opponents if the lower order is constantly scoring runs, so it was the gameplan from our side,” he added.
Ishant Bowled Well: Jadeja
On day 2, Ishant Sharma picked five crucial wickets and proved to be beneficial to the team. And there were no regrets for not giving the position to Ashwin. Ishant Sharma made a partnership with Ravindra Jadeja of 60 runs. And his Five wicket haul changed the game.

“Ishant bowled well. The two caught and bowled were remarkable, and I believe those two dismissals as the turning point,” he said.
“On this wicket, you have to bowl in the right areas. Ishant’s rhythm improved by each over he bowled. If he did not hold on to two return catches, the situation might have been different. Those two dismissals helped us in turning the momentum into our side,” Ravindra Jadeja added.
