Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder is considered one of the most important players for the Indian cricket team. He has been ruled out of the fourth Test, to be played in Brisbane, and also went surgery for his thumb.

Although Ravindra Jadeja hasn’t been consistent in bowling in terms of wickets and averages in the past couple of years, his batting has improved significantly and there’s no denying the fact that he is one of the best fielders in world cricket.

Ravindra Jadeja Tweets Surgery Completed And Will Soon Return

Thus, as he fractured his thumb after being hit by a delivery during the 3rd Test against Australia, it came as a big blow for Ajinkya Rahane-led India given the kind of role Ravindra Jadeja had played for the Indian team in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Ravindra Jadeja had a batting average of 85 and bowling average of 15 which is remarkable in this Test series playing 2 Tests.

With India’s back against the wall on Day 5 of the 3rd Test, he showed enormous courage as he was padded up to face some of the quickest bowlers in world cricket for his country. But that wasn’t needed eventually as Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari were defence in batting strategy to pull off a memorable draw for the hosts playing out about 43 overs together stitching an unbeaten 62 run partnership for 6th wicket.

Soon after the surgery, the all-rounder shared a photograph for his fans on social media and promised to return with a bang.

“Out of action for a while. surgery completed. But will soon return with a bang!” the all-rounder tweeted.

 

Ravindra Jadeja played a key role for India in the first innings of the 3rd Test where he claimed a four-wicket haul, which included the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne (91), Matthew Wade (13), Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon without scoring. But the highlight of the innings was his fielding when he rocketed a throw to run-out former Australian captain Steve Smith who scored 131.

Even with the bat, he scored unbeaten 28 runs off 37 balls as India were eventually bowled out for 244 in 1st innings in reply to Australia’s 338 in first innings. It was during the knock where Ravindra Jadeja was hit on the thumb by a bouncer from Mitchell Starc.

“Ravindra Jadeja suffered a blow to his left thumb while batting on Day 3 of the third Border-Gavaskar Test that concluded on Monday,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a statement.

“He later went for scans and the results have shown that he has dislocated his thumb.”

Indian cricket team’s injury list is increasing with each passing day. Along with him, Hanuma Vihari and Jasprit Bumrah are the two other cricketers who have been ruled out from participating in the 4th Test. Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and KL Rahul had already been ruled out of the tournament after getting injured earlier.
