Gujarat Lions unveiled their kits on Saturday along with the team owner Keshav Bansal and Suresh Raina. Suresh Raina was earlier selected as the team’s skipper.
The former Chennai Super Kings star batsman is very excited to play with his new team though it is pretty hard for him to move from his old IPL team CSK. Raina told, “It’s going to be difficult to move from CSK to Gujarat Lions.”
Raina added further, “Looking forward to playing for Gujarat Lions, pretty excited about the new season”
Raina believes that his team is pretty strong. He said about his new team, “We have a team that can come in top four. We have a good mixture of youth and experience. Brendon is there, Bravo is there, so they will help me in captaincy as well. I have played under [Mahendra Singh] Dhoni also, so I’m pretty excited about the job.”
Raina also commented about the coaching staffs. Raina said, “Brad Hodge a great coach. Heath Streak is brilliant as well. I am happy with our team.”
On the other hand, Keshav Bansal who is the owner of Gujarat Lions spoke out about his team squad, “We have picked players from the domestic front. We have a good mixture and we also have McCullum who showed the world his qualities today [by hitting the fastest Test hundred in his farewell match].”
Though Bansal haven’t discussed yet about his team’s long-term future with BCCI, but they are interested to do it. Bansal said, “Till now we haven’t had any discussions with the Indian board over long-term future of the Lions but we will surely be interested in a long-term association with cricket.”
