Rohit Sharma, skipper of Mumbai Indians always looks forward to play against Kolkata Knight Riders, as per Aakash Chopra, the former cricketer turned commentator. Mumbai Indians start as favourites according to Aakash Chopra.
He previewed the IPL 2020 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians in a video shared on YouTube channel. He emphasized on the fact that Mumbai Indians have made only one change in playing XI as they have won five matches and lost only two in seven matches and are placed 2nd after Delhi Capitals.
Rohit Sharma Wants To Regain His Form: Aakash Chopra
Mumbai Indians had beaten Kolkata Knight Riders earlier in the first half’s 5th match by 49 runs after Mumbai Indians posted 195/5 in 20 overs following Rohit Sharma’s 80 off 54 balls that included three fours and six sixes. The batting unit failed too with KKR playing its 1st match in IPL 2020 limited to 146/9.
Kolkata Knight Riders are placed 4th after four wins from seven matches losing three to accumulate eight points against Mumbai Indian’s 10 points. They have beaten SunRisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab.
“Mumbai Indians have made just the one change in the seven matches they have played, out of which they have won five and have defeated Delhi Capitals in the last match.”
“Everything is working fine. Rohit Sharma was dismissed early in a couple of matches, so if he wants to regain his form, he calls KKR to play against MI. So now they are playing, last time also he had hit a lot, especially the sixes against Pat Cummins.”
“So you will expect from him and all the other players are in good form. So there is no scope of any team changes,” chopra added.
Rohit Sharma’s good run against KKR and failure in the last couple of games indicates he is hungry for success by scoring runs against KKR’s pace attack. Pat Cummins had the worse start against MI by conceding 49 runs in three overs but since then has regained his form.
Aakash Chopra: KKR Should Open With Rahul Tripathi & Include Sunil Narine
The last win of KKR against Kings XI Punjab was noted for the small margin of victory-2 runs after KXIP’s Glenn Maxwell failed to hit a six to tie the match, hitting a four instead. But after the match’s conclusion, veteran spinner Sunil Narine was reported for suspect bowling action.
Aakash Chopra reckoned KKR should not play Tom Banton and open with Rahul Tripathi instead. Sunil Narine who is KKR’s leading wicket-taker should also play according to Aakash Chopra as he feels that Sunil Narine is a proven match-winner and should be there in best possible XI which should be fielded against MI. But in case he is not selected spinner Kuldeep Yadav and pacer Lockie Ferguson should be played.
“I would say KKR should not play Tom Banton and open with Rahul Tripathi because he had done well.”
“You should play Narine as he has been given a warning only and not been banned.”
“If you still do not want to play Sunil Narine, you should play Lockie Ferguson and try to play Kuldeep Yadav as well and go in with six bowling options against Mumbai Indians as they have a very long batting lineup.”
“I am going with Rohit Sharma as the game-changer for this match because he likes this side and also likes the pitch in Abu Dhabi.”
“He has had a couple of bad innings, so he is anyway due for runs. And I feel he will score runs, he plays very well the length on which Pat Cummins or Shivam Mavi bowl,” Aakash Chopra added.
Aakash Chopra reckons that Rohit Sharma should be the game changer as he is due for runs after having a couple of bad innings, getting out cheaply. Meanwhile, in a fresh development, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik has handed over the captaincy to Eoin Morgan for the second half of IPL.
