It was a prolific year for the Indian batsman Rohit Sharma as he became the top score in One-day internationals in the calendar year 2019. He has been the backbone of the team during the crucial period of this year. But in the starting of next year, he may miss India’s first home series against Sri Lanka.

Non-Stop Rohit Sharma

The opener Rohit Sharma has been regular with the team from starting of 2019. In January, the Men in Blue toured Australia where they first time registered the victory in the Test series and bilateral ODI series in Australia. Rohit featured in the ODI series but missed out the Sydney Test, which was India’s first game in this year, due to returning to the country to see his just-born daughter. Then he travelled in New Zealand for the limited-overs series, where he also led the Indian team from the middle moment of that tour. Rohit was also present in the home limited-overs series against Australia.

He then led the Mumbai Indians (MI) on the winning horse, registering the victory in the IPL 2019 edition, the fourth title for MI.

He personally had a successful time in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, scoring 5 centuries and finishing as the most run-scorer in that tournament. However, the Indian team failed to win the ICC World Cup 2019 trophy. Sharma continued that stunt, playing his first Test series as an opener. Soon, he scored maiden double Test century against South Africa in the home ground.

He is the highest run gatherer in the ODI format, scoring 1490 runs, which include 6 half-centuries and 7 centuries. The “Hit Man” was unstoppable in every format, leading the team single-handedly to victory.

Rohit Sharma might take rest

Rohit Sharma has been consistently playing cricket for India without taking a break. Earlier, there were reports that he was offered a break ahead of the recent home limited-overs series against West Indies but he chose to play for the team. Well, the determined Rohit Sharma might not be seen in the ground against the Sri Lanka T20I series in the home.

“The selectors normally don’t give rest to anyone in the T20 team, but Rohit has been on the road for quite a while now. He has informed the Board that he wants to take rest for this series,” The Times of India quoted a BCCI source as saying on Monday.
