ToggleIndia skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy in white-ball cricket, Rohit Sharma will start their race to be on the top of the list of highest run-scorer in T20I when India take on South Africa in the second T20I in Bangalore, today. Before the start of the series, Rohit was on the top of the list. The India opener was dismissed on 12 in the second T20I in Mohali.

Kohli propelled India to a successful chase and with his innings of 72*, he saw Men in Blue sail through and achieve the target with ease. Enroute victory, he also went past Rohit on the ist. The lead held by Kohli isn’t a big one and Rhit can overtake if he bats well.
Rohit had become highest run-scorer for India last year, overtaking Kohli in the home series against West Indies that the India skipper had missed as he was rested after Tests and ODIs.

Kohli, who was expected to take rest from white-ball cricket after World Cup 2019, hasn’t missed any of the matches and is also not expected to take a break at least from the T20I series going ahead.

Rohit though is behind Kohli in terms of runs but in the terms of centuries, he holds the record of most centuries in this format. He has scored four centuries, most by any batsman. Kohli is yet to score a century in T20Is. Although he has five centuries in T20s, all in IPL.
The race between Rohit and Kohi will continue even after the South Africa T20Is as India play T20I series against Bangladesh, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Australia in upcoming months. The duo will continue to compete for the top spot. Though Rohit has played 97 T20Is while Kohli has achieved the record in 71 T20Is.

Following them on the list is Martin Guptill, who has scored 2283 runs while Shoaib Malik comes next to him with 2263 runs in this format.
